The wave
Why Batu Bolong is the place to start
Batu Bolong is the friendliest wave in Canggu. It breaks slowly, rolls a long way, and gives you plenty of time to get to your feet — which is exactly what you want on day one.
The take-off zone is wide, so there's room for everyone, and the water is warm enough that a rashguard is all you need. On a small day, beginners get wave after wave here.
Already surfing? Same story — it's a long, easy right and left that's perfect for longboarding and for finding your rhythm again after a break.
How it works
From your table to the line-up
We're the meeting point — you turn up at the warung, your instructor takes it from there.
- Message us the day before (or the same morning) Tell us how many people, your level, and roughly when you'd like to go. We'll match you with a tide that actually works for beginners.
- Meet at The Paluh Walk along the beachfront from Nelayan Road — we're the 5th warung. Leave your bag with us, get changed, meet your instructor on the sand.
- Briefing on the beach Board, rashguard and a proper safety talk: how to paddle, how to pop up, where to sit, and how to stay out of other people's way.
- Into the water A couple of steps from your table. Your instructor pushes you into your first waves and stays with you the whole session.
- Back for a cold one Rinse off, sit down, and we'll bring you something cold. Most people book their second lesson right here at the table.

Complete beginners welcome
Most people we teach have never surfed. You don't need to be a strong swimmer to start — just comfortable in waist-deep water.
Kids & groups
Families and small groups are fine. Message us with the ages and numbers and we'll sort out enough instructors.
Photos of your session
Ask before you paddle out and someone can shoot your first waves from the beach. Tag us — we love seeing them.
